To say the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason has been interesting wouldn’t do a justice.
While their explosive offense has remained intact for the most part, the team’s defense went through a massive overhaul, as many veterans decided to sign elsewhere for more money in free agency.
But the Cowboys still have a glowing opportunity to bolster their defense with a key free-agent signing.
One of the NFL’s best linebackers, Zachary Orr, recently announced his intentions to return to football after his brief retirement from the league.
Orr was voted in as a second-team All-Pro last season, but he initially decided to call it a career in January due to concerns regarding potentially life-altering neck and spine injuries.
After being away from the game for a few months, Orr is attempting to make a comeback after receiving encouraging news about his condition.
An unrestricted free agent, Orr has the option to sign wherever he pleases. Taking into account how well he played in 2016, many teams should be interested in acquiring his services. However, Orr’s asking price may drop, as his health may make those teams weary about signing him.
If enough doctors give Orr a green light, Dallas should consider rolling the dice and give him a call. Adding him to the mix with Sean Lee would make their defense much more formidable moving forward.
Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, Orr recorded a team-high 132 tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble.
